No, Achieve can be easily integrated into the existing curriculum without the need for additional lessons.
For example, the Wellbeing – Physical Activity unit is effective when taught with PE, as is Teamwork Skills. And units such as Personal Project and Presentation Skills can be incorporated into a range of lessons.
However, it also works well standalone, providing an alternative and practical curriculum for young people who are disengaged with education. It helps develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in education and employment.
No, you can deliver any topic from any unit and mix and match topics to suit your delivery model and your learners’ needs. There is no set programme or requirement to use the resources in a prescribed way unless you are completing the PDE qualification.
Collections are a selection of resources that have been grouped together by The King's Trust based on themes and popular topics. They are comprised of sessions from qualification and non-qualification units and can be found in the Achieve library. You may want to browse them for curriculum ideas and to respond to topical subjects.
Absolutely, your learners can work independently at their own pace.
For example, in the Project-Based Learning unit, they can research a subject of their own choice and present their work in a way that suits them. This could also be done in conjunction with the Presentation Skills unit.
Achieve is not a set or fixed programme, rather, it is a set of resources that you can use to put together a scheme of work to suit your curriculum or timetable. It can be tailored to suit your learners’ needs and it allows you to spend as much (or as little) time as they need to complete a topic/unit. Note: see the Qualifications' guidance for information about accredited units ( ).
No, you can run Achieve with as few, or as many, learners as you like.
The Education Hub and QualsHub are separate websites and you will have different accounts and log ins for each.
The Education Hub gives you access to session plans and other resources that you can use to deliver Achieve. You can also find out what’s happening in your region on your relevant regional page.
The QualsHub is the system where qualifications are claimed and used to undertake the External Moderation process, and results are confirmed. This information is used to report to our regulators. Tracking sheets are available to download on the .
Volunteers facilitate up to 7 sessions (between 45 - 60 minutes) from a structured curriculum of content, focusing on developing socio-emotional and employability skills.
The curriculum is designed to be flexible to meet the needs of the young people.
The cohort size should be a maximum of 30 Young People and minimum of 20 (20-25 is the recommended cohort size).
Mosaic is based on a co-mentoring approach. Two or more mentors work with a larger group of Young People and split into smaller groups for most activities.
Typically, mentors stay with the same small group to build rapport, but it is an option to mix group sizes over the sessions if mentors cannot attend all sessions. A different mentor leads the session each week.
It is important for all volunteers to attend the sessions relevant to them. This will help to increase your knowledge of the programme and help to clarify roles and responsibilities.
The training will prepare you for delivery of the programme.
A World of Work (WoW) refers to a trip to a work environment, where Young People will learn more about jobs and opportunities in a specific industry. The WoW visit usually takes part towards the end of the mentor-led sessions. It can replace a mentor-led session or be added as a separate event.
Yes. We ask that a member of school staff is present for each session and is responsible for the behaviour and safeguarding of the young people on the programme.
We have a suite of resources designed to support volunteers to deliver a variety of sessions depending on the needs of the learners. However, if volunteers and teachers have their own ideas for how to conduct a session they are encouraged to use them.
Please liaise in advance of the session with your King’s Trust contact if you would like to introduce new ideas or resources into the delivery.
Enterprise Challenge sessions can differ from one school to another depending on facilities, number of participating young people and existing curriculum commitments.
We have designed six session plans to cover all content required. Schools may choose to run sessions during curriculum time (e.g. hourly sessions once weekly for six weeks), as an after-school club or during an enrichment day when all six hours of volunteering will run back to back.
Times and frequency of sessions will be confirmed during the planning meeting with your King’s Trust contact and the coordinating teacher.
The Enterprise Challenge is hugely popular with young people and it is a testament to the challenge’s popularity that many young people from previous years want to re-enter.
If you choose to enter young people from previous years, speak with your King’s Trust contact first.
It is important for volunteers and teachers to attend the sessions relevant to them. Please note, teachers only need to attend one planning meeting which can be online or at your place of work.
Not only does it increase your knowledge of the programme, but it also strengthens the overall offer to young people when teachers and volunteers are very clear on what their roles and responsibilities are.
The training will cover all the exciting new elements and give you an opportunity to preview the game!
